STPo has made a cool logo for Ryzom.org today, so I'm submiting it here for approval. The poll will run over the next 48 hours, to let everyone the time to come, see it, comment and vote.

Feel free to ask for modifications if you think some should be made.

At first, it looked to me like a mix of a gnu, an alien and Che Guevara. ^^
But if I am correct, it's supposed to represent one of the creatures from Ryzom:

I think it should be made less "communist" (the Che Guevara-like aspect), since that might eventually turn people away. ;)

a mix of a kami and Uncle Sam would have been fun too ("we want you for Ryzom Army") but also too politicaly oriented ^^

I'm against any political link or interpretation for the project. I think some issues like the open-source code is already a kind of political campaign or credo, we don't need to add to it a reference to something that is not linked at all.

I appreciate the caricature here, but I really don't think it gives a good image of the project or shows that we are serious in our initiative

Voted false, like I explained in the french section. Communism has no link with open source / free software, and IMHO we don't need to be associated with anything political ...

GAAAAH!

omg, I just got coffee in the wrong throat out of chock lol.

What is that? It looks like a cross breed between Che Guevara and Satan lol

Whats wrong with the sketch we have now, I think she looks firm, stubborn and determined (just like us) and she is really beautiful :D

For me it's definitively funny, but I don't think, it will work well as a logo, too.

It's amusing, but I did also vote no. It looks too complicated for a logo, and above all too aggressive and "communist" to be our logo. We don't want to paint ourselves into that corner.

The star in the front and the red color represent a communist lemma, something that has nothing to do with Free Software. The communism is a dictatorial government where only the dictator can have money. Furthermore, is against liberty.

It's a nice drawing, but like others said; it's too political.

A logo should say nothing of what you do or how you do it, only that you are cool, hip and fresh. looking for fame and fortune and will find it with or without the viewers help.

Besides the BS I also go a little graphics and I was bored so I drew this in inkscape based on the existing image:

although I agree I like the artwork.

Well, yours isn't political indeed, and like you said, it shows nothing about what we do or how we do it.

But somehow, I don't like it...
It doesn't look cool, hip and fresh to me.

I think the logo should at least be a little bit correlated to Ryzom and/or the free software community.
I like the little creature from Ryzom called Kami and putting it in a logo would be cute. :)

After that, we could add some penguins and gnus for the "freedom". ^^
Most free softwares have an animal as a logo, and I like that.
If we could add some animal from Ryzom (or similar, Ryzom-like) to the "free lore", it would be great! :D

And a text on the logo is essential!
(text which should indeed be cool, hip and fresh ^^)

Anyway, thank a lot for proposing a logo!
We need more suggestions. ;)

edit:
Hey, I just found this:

If you have good suggestions about how to update it, I can. or if you like I can post the svg so you can have a hack at it :D

I'm not really sure what represents ryzom without infringing some trademark with the original game.

besides the circle reminds me of the open source unlinked green circle.
