Hello,

I was wondering if any of the RyZom leaders/developers would be willing to come to Linux.conf.au 2007 and give a talk about Ryzom, the quest to buy the project and/or NEL at the Gaming Miniconf?

There is no chance of getting travel assistance so somebody already in Australia (particular Sydney) would be much easier!

A bit about the Miniconf
This Open Source Gaming and Game Development Miniconf ( http://lca2007.linux.org.au/Miniconfs/Gaming ) aims to promote FOSS Gaming and Game Development. It hopes to show that there is a large, viable and active community.

The Miniconf also aims to bring game developers together with other FOSS developers to further increase the cooperation. There will be a specific focus on game developers getting together with both the FOSS media development community and the FOSS embedded hardware community.

Like LCA in general, the Miniconf aims to be FUN! Demonstrations of (embarrassing for the participants) FOSS games will be occurring. Hopefully, Some kernel hacker mojo going on with pyDance!

The Miniconf will run for the complete day of Tuesday, January 16th (which is the second day of the LCA conference). It will also be participating in the LCA Open Day.

About linux.conf.au 2007
linux.conf.au is Australia's annual technical conference for the Open Source and Free Software developer community. Now in its eighth year, linux.conf.au is regarded as one of the premier global FLOSS technical events and attracts many international open source software developers and users.

Returning to Sydney from the 15th to 20th of January, linux.conf.au 2007 is supported by our Emperor sponsors, HP and IBM, and hosted at the University of New South Wales. For more information about linux.conf.au 2007 visit our website at: http://lca2007.linux.org.au/

Hi mithro and everyone else,

Without being any of the project leaders, I really want to get involved if we succeed in buying back ryzom.

I also happen to live in 60km south of Sydney and I was probably going to attend the miniconf anyway since I work (and study) in a related field to the game industry.

First of all, our enterprise have to succeed otherwise there would be not very much to talk about ryzom. There is always NeL, but I am not familiar with it yet.

Secondly, maybe somebody more qualified than me can come, or is already in Australia. If not, I'll be glad to present the state of the project on behalf of the ryzom.org community.

But right now, we are getting close to the 5th of December deadline and I am getting a bit nervous. I wish I could do more than giving a donation pledge right now...

I take this opportunity to thank you all the people who are currently actively working to free ryzom. (The ones concerned know who they are :)).

Could you private message me with your details so I can organise this via email?

Even if the code/stuff isn't successful in the byout there is still lots to talk about (IE Why you wanted to buy out, how to go about organising it, etc).

Thanks for your time.

Tim,

Are you one of the guys I worked with on WorldForge? It'd be interesting to get WorldForge's take on this project.
