So, during Monday's chat, I was assigned one of the hardest tasks I had to do since the beginning of the project, and it generated a lot of thought. I had to choose three people to become the "ones in charge" until the source code is actually bought. I was reluctant, because there are so many people in this project, a lot of different types of contributions, and choosing only three people seems to me like telling everyone else "hey, you're not part of those three!".

But it was asked by vote, so I had to comply. And I failed... The best I tried, no matter how hard I tried, I could only come with four, and that was already putting aside a lot of the important people here. If you can do better, try it yourself. :)

So, here is what I came up with. I've given description of domains, to let the four concentrate on something instead of trying to handle everything, but it doesn't mean there shouldn't be discussions and decisions taken according to the majority of people involved. These are position to serve, not to command. I haven't discussed it with these people, as I'd like to have this conversation here. If you don't want the responsibility, don't take it!

  • Ace : Technical (ensuring the website is running, configuring the shards if we get the code, getting new servers, etc.)
  • Quim : Community Communication (ensuring the information is everywhere, writing news on the ryzom.org forums & MLs, translations, etc.)
  • Thanys : Juridical (making the best proposal the judge will ever see, :) checking everything is made according to the law, etc.)
  • Me : Philosophy (checking the social contract is respected, staying in touch with everyone, answering to contact demands, etc.)

If you think this is silly and that I should stop smocking crack, please, tell me.[/list]

This is the most important thing, imho.

By now, since it's not been done and needs some work on, I'll try to team up translators, and keep up the call effort.. please refeer to those threads if you can help!

I was not able to fully attend that meeting due to being at work at the time but I would like to volunteer for any project management/maintainer positions. I have a fair amount of experience with NeL and the only other person on that list with more experience than myself was, obviously, ace and it looks like he has his hands full. :D

Since we'd need another vote to do that, I suggest you get in touch with Ace to see where you can help. Once the game is bought, we'll have more time to consider these things. :)

I think this is sensitive information that some might not enjoy posting on forums (e.g: spam on mailbox and so on), but it's ok to me, so:
Quim Rovira (yep, it's true)
[email protected] (and i'm not very original)

Gmail has a very good anti-spam mechanism (among many other nice features) - and it's free. IMO it's better than many mail-systems handled by corporations with dedicated staff.

I have a bunch of invitations to Gmail left over. Anyone in need of an account, drop me (or your nearest gmail buddy) a email: [email protected] (or click the email button below).

No, never had any problems so far - none that I'm aware of so far i.e..

Been using it for more than a year and I find myself tending to use it in professional life also. What problems have you experienced (perhaps it's something I've missed)?

Well, the data is on their servers anyway, and their application can do anything with the text before sending it to the user. It's like that with any e-mail provider.

My email is [email protected] and my real name is on the left of this post ;p

For emailing, please note I have accumulated backlog over the last few days, with the details of the proposal to gather. I'm trying to recover from that, but I currently have 75 email wainting in the queue for an answer, so please consider that when you write to me. :/

I know this went up before, but we didn't get an email address for Ace or Thanys. Can someone post their contact info?

Maybe for some storage/exchange of conversations/ideas, a "FTP" would be good here. The community and only the community, would be given access, thus the information would not be on any "stranger" server, but at and the care of one of the Admins or anyone else named for that purpose.

There is already one: ftp://ftp.ryzom.org/ or http://ftp.ryzom.org/

It's anonymous only, as I'm still loking for a good and simple web file manager. If you know a good one...

Otherwise, there is the traditional upload directory put on the FTP, but I'm afraid this would be too technical for some of us.
