This article states that "IBM will help work to make it possible for a user in one virtual world to take the assets they create in that environment and move them to other worlds".

I don't know if they're just talking or if they're actually doing anything. Even if it's just talk, though, it shows that the is idea beginning to take hold.

They also talk about interlinking different virtual worlds, which is an interesting idea in itself.
