Hello,
Maybe this is a silly idea, I'm not deep enough into the code to know if this is realistic. But I'd like to know if this would sound like something worth investigating.
Based on yesterday's IRC discussion, we should start with the basics of a MMORPG shard, server and client, without content and rules. A large part of the work any project using the metaverse base would have to do is thus to import art and rules from elsewhere, or recreate them.
On the other side, SL client has just been released. The technology used makes it unsuitable to become the standard client used to connect to the world, but what about using it as a world building tool? The interface is good and simple, lots of non-developers could use it to help providing content.
Is it a silly idea? How much work would that represent?
Edit: Have a look at http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LmN_hAHlF0M for a video tutorial of the editing interface. |
