I heard SOE's broke and some people proposed buying their games. (Planetside , for example) I think we should buy EQ2- It's safe for the future (one of the best graphics in the market) The fees were much too high , and too less ads, so there are no players and no cash. And I think hosting could be easily distributed. EQ2 runs zoneservers which don't need much power on their own. IT is run by a large cluster of ordinary , low-end , pcs. Because of this everybody interested could host a ZoneServer(of course he had to be trusted in the means of Anticheat and server reliability) at nearly no cost (such a Server runs alongside your own home server for CS and the like . I know many people who have 24:7 home servers.) So we wouldn't require fees and still give the players fun. The ZoneServer concept also is very stable and the servers don't have much communication between themselves . Only a connection to a Database and a connection when somebody enter or leaves a zone.

EQ2 likely cost millions to develop and I doubt Sony would even answer an email if we were talking the kind of money that was raised for Ryzom. Then again, you might be able to raise a LOT more for EQ2.

But that would be valentin and Xavier's call if they thought it could be pulled off.

Why should they ask less for Planetside. And again Everquest2 was a failure. It didn't pay off. You cannot buy gametime in Europe(not even on ebay or amazon). They nearly give away free copies (in idiot contests and promotions) .

If people chose to buy EQ2, they will have to change it. WoW is big and it's perfect for the casual players. EQ2 needs to keep it's rpg player base, the players that wants an harder game, death penalty, great raids, a bit like EQ1. They need to improve the AA system, so people don't manage to get 100% AA between expansions release. Then yes, it would be a good idea to buy.

SOE has money problems? Excellent.
