Hi Guys,
First I’ve already emailed Xavier about this concept and he gave me the go ahead to post so this isn’t spam!

Ok for some time I’ve been trying to promote internal marketing/rewards scheme that would allow online game publishers and extra revenue raising option plus give members and extra way to pay for their subscriptions.

Many online players make regular online non game purchases so why not let the online game and yourselves get the benefit of these purchases instead of unrelated business entities?

In a way if you harness these purchases you can turn something that you were doing anyway or something that with minimal change by redirecting your purchasing online, into a way to make a paying subscription a free one.

Regarding this project while I like the open source/community control aspect in reality you need the money to maintain the quality of the online experience through funding the maintenance or development at the right levels.

I’ve already sourced the best way to do this and would like to develop this into my own business assisting online publishers sourcing additional income so they can avoid things like in game advertising.

I would very much like to assist this project in making this a reality helping you guys get additional funds for the project plus making the concept in practice free while still being a pay venture.

Best Regards
Cybane

Perhaps it would be possible to create a Visa or Mastercard credit card that contributed "points" to this organization. I currently use a Mastercard that donates a certain percentage of my purchases to the non-profit organization of my choice.

Could the Free Ryzom movement take advantage of something like this?

I would do whatever it takes (within my power to do) to make this happen. Pay a higher monthly fee, do other fundraising scenarios, beg on street corners.

Any idea is welcome, as far as I'm concerned.

It should be an option additional to a basic monthly subscription fee.

I am not sure I fully understand.
Is this means that you will provide an on-line shop like e-bay or Amazon ? Or a payment system like Pay-pal ? or both of them ?

If we do have an online shop, may I humbly suggest that it doesn't sell things ingame but outgame ? Like posters, T-shirts, caps and such ? I know there's a site where you just put your design and people can have it printed on whatever product they want and sent by mail order. Fanservice goodies ? Good Funding money ? Save Ryzom T-Shirt = instant publicity to everyone who sees you wearing it? Wouldn't a Yubo pajama just be awesomely cute ?

Just an example : http://www.wordans.com/display/page/open-your-shop.
And you earn 10$ each time your desing is sold.

Don't you think that something like that would be GREAT ?

I think the theory behind this idea is similar to "Frequent Flier" miles. ANY purchase you make with a "Virtual Citizenship" credit card would give you credits towards game payment. Am I correct about that? I like that concept. If you are making the purchases anyway and you pay your bill in full each month, play time would not cost very much.

As i stit and watch the leaves turn to golden brown...i can only feel like Ryzom is doing the same , only it will fall from our hearts. As a player i have been able to "live" in the surreal world of Ryzom, and it only makes me wonder how long our little seed wil be able to survive..... i am fully prpared to double...Hell ..ill even pay triple sub if that is what it takes to nurture our little world back to life.. ( never have i felt so strong about a "game", it truly deppresses me that it is not a viable home at this moment ;{

p.s. and as for the pajamas...i want 3.. ill take a pair of kinrey rain gear too..:)

im not sure how much server costs are, but is something like having the interest that accumulates from donations used to pay the hosting, and u get to keep the capital, a realistic idea, or is the hosting costsa so high we woould need a really large amount of capital to pay monthly fees?

Raingear... I don't think they sell it on the website but they do have jackets, though.

Going by such things as the speed of the downloads, I'd assume that Ryzom runs on a seriously fast - read expensive - connection.
