As you said at the end of the FAQ, you're searching for a FOSS solution for video streaming. In Cyberpipe's video archive we use a GPL java applet player called Cortado to stream our videos in Ogg/Theora.
The beauty of it is, that it works on all OS and browsers providing they have java (which is most relatively modern systems, really).
But that's just a suggestion - I think it's best if you just look at the links (when you find time) and decide if it's good enough for Ryzom.org. |

I haven't looked at all the licensing details, but it seems like a good solution.
If somebody is willing to take care of this, all the videos should be on the FTP: ftp://ftp.ryzom.org/ |

I've taken a look at the source code, just to be sure, and it seems all parts are under GPL v2 (with the "or later" clause).
The README is relatively short, but to me it seems well written and explaining everything.
...but then again, I'm not a coder, I'm just a law student. |
